The Assistant Plant Operator plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations and maintenance of the plant. The Assistant Plant Operator assists the Plant Operator in various tasks, including investigating changes in instrument readings and equipment operation, and promptly notifying the Plant Operator or Shift Supervisor of any operational inconsistencies or concerns. Regular inspections of turbine/generator APC and other critical systems are essential, as is the ability to recognize and mitigate operating difficulties. The role demands adaptability to changing plant conditions to maximize safety and efficiency. Documentation is a key responsibility, as the Assistant Plant Operator must maintain accurate logs and written records of plant activities, including comments that facilitate problem tracking and any work that needs to be performed. The position also involves operating the demineralization system, performing water testing and treatment, and making necessary adjustments to maintain set parameters and laboratory procedures. The Assistant Plant Operator will work closely with maintenance teams to troubleshoot problems and assess probable causes, ensuring that the APC system operates at optimal performance levels. The work environment can be demanding, requiring the Assistant Plant Operator to maintain clean and orderly work areas while completing corporate and plant training programs within prescribed time frames.
