About The Position
The Assistant Plant Manager at Martin Marietta Materials plays a crucial role in supporting the Plant Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the plant. This position is responsible for leading and managing all safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental policies, and fostering a culture of safety among the workforce. The Assistant Plant Manager will also be involved in site planning, mine and pit development, quality control, and maintenance functions. In addition to these responsibilities, the role includes asset protection, financial evaluation, budgeting, and cost control, as well as maintaining positive community relations. The Assistant Plant Manager must ensure that all operations align with company standards and regulatory requirements while providing strong leadership, training, and team-building efforts to enhance workforce performance. The role requires a proactive approach to managing safety and environmental objectives, with a focus on achieving established production goals. The Assistant Plant Manager will participate in the annual planning of quarry production, maintenance, and salary costs to meet budgetary goals. This position demands a strong commitment to safety and the ability to implement effective training programs for team members, ensuring that all employees are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and efficiently. The Assistant Plant Manager will also be responsible for performance management and scheduling of the hourly workforce, ensuring that all team members are effectively led and motivated to achieve their best work.
