About The Position

The Plant Maintenance Technician Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the maintenance operations of Waste Management facilities. This position involves performing preventive maintenance, assisting in repairs, and ensuring that all plant equipment operates efficiently and safely. The technician works under direct supervision and is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment while adhering to safety protocols and regulations.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Proficient in welding and fabrication.
• Knowledge of single and three-phase electrical systems.
• Knowledge of electrical control systems.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
• Knowledge of pneumatic systems, including air compressors.
• Safely operate tools and equipment needed during the repair and servicing of equipment.
• Diagnose defects and repair a variety of equipment and vehicles.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in maintenance or repair work is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.
• Ensure all plant equipment is functioning properly.
• Assist Technicians in the adjustments, repair, or replacement of fixed and rolling stock equipment including balers, conveyor belts, gearboxes, electrical motors, machine shafts, rollers, and bearings.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Support operating schedules and facility needs by working flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
