About The Position

The Assistant Plant Controller, reporting to the site Plant Controller, will be responsible for monthly reporting of results, establishing and tracking key performance metrics, implementation of best-in-class product costing methodologies and driving improvements through analysis of results to drive critical decisions around financial reporting and expense management. This position is closely aligned with manufacturing operations, quality and supply chain with the primary focus on driving the manufacturing operations financials for DFS Austin. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • Minimum of 4 years (preferred) of experience in an operational finance role
  • Strong technical capabilities with the ability to solve practical finance issues and problems
  • Well versed in Microsoft Excel, ERP, and 'big data' management
  • Organized and efficient in approaching tasks, a self-starter with ability to solve problems and anticipate and avoid issues
  • Strong organization and efficiency skills; strong attention to detail and follow-up
  • Interfaces with wide array of individuals, balances multiple tasks and maintains positive attitude and energy

Responsibilities

  • Key participant in the month-end financial close process preparing and approving journal entries, analysis of monthly results including impacts of volume, productivity, spending and cost reductions.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual supplemental reporting KPIs.
  • Key business partner for operations focused on improving both financial and operational processes to support better decision making.
  • Partner with supply chain and strategic sourcing to proactively anticipate demand changes, manufacturing capacity upgrades are proactively identified, annual savings programs are being actioned and tracked.
  • Optimize utilization of site’s ERP reporting platform to aid in analysis and reporting of results.
  • Responsible for new items and annual standard cost reviews and updates.
  • Drive enhancements to costing methodologies utilizing site’s ERP functionality and best practices.
  • Track weekly and monthly operational results and measure to established goals.
  • Able to influence the priority list of productivity projects with business partners and guide remediation.
  • Interface with external and internal auditors on requirements, due dates and preparation of client schedules.
  • Assist in preparing internal control documentation around cost accounting and inventory including testing of key controls as assigned.
  • Drive strong results around inventory accuracy through the inventory cycle count program as well as full physical inventory as needed.
