About The Position

Requirements

  • Understanding of City General Plan, zoning codes, and land use regulations.
  • Familiarity with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and related laws.

  • Experience with GIS software applications used in planning and mapping.

Responsibilities

  • Provides beginning and intermediate-level planning services for the City.
  • Accepts permit applications and reviews residential, commercial, and industrial site plans for compliance with regulations.
  • Answers inquiries and assists the public and developers regarding planning, zoning, and permit review.
  • Reviews and evaluates development plans, proposals, designs, and applications for compliance with standards.
  • Inspects properties and structures under construction for compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Develops recommendations and reports summarizing development issues and activities.
  • Interprets and explains City codes, policies, and regulations.
  • Processes a variety of applications and permits, issuing special permits as needed.
  • Develops staff reports to summarize development projects for the Planning Commission and City Council.
  • Maintains courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with the public and City staff.
