The New York Post is seeking a temporary Photo Assistant to support its Alexa Magazine team. This desk-based role focuses on photo editing rather than photography, requiring strong time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines. The position is full-time from January through May, emphasizing a self-starter mindset and editorial background.

  • Sourcing photography via photo agencies and publicists with content spanning fashion, lifestyle, art, entertainment
  • Promptly process a large number of images with efficiency, including batch resizing, batch renaming, and logging metadata
  • Organize images in the digital database with thorough captioning and maintain project folders
  • Communicate clearly and punctually with the team, tracking multiple conversations on various platforms
  • Collect photo credits for Print Issues, ensuring accurate spelling and notation
  • Assist the Photo Editor with Shoot Production, including securing locations and crew, gathering info, and composing callsheets.
  • At least 2 years of experience (preferably editorial) with a multi-platform media digital/print brand
  • Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Keen ability to multi-task and independently problem solve
  • Knowledge of photography and a strong visual sensibility
  • Excellent content judgment with knowledge of entertainment, fashion, and news
  • Proven research skills, including newsgathering and fact-checking
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Wordpress, and Digital Asset Management.
  • Experience in a fast-paced editorial environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Competitive hourly pay ranging from $26.00 to $31.00 per hour
