About The Position

The Assistant Pastry Chef at MGM Grand is responsible for ensuring superior food quality and creating memorable guest experiences. This role involves supporting the Pastry Chef and other kitchen staff in a high-volume bakery environment, maintaining production standards, and managing kitchen supplies and inventory.

Requirements

• Proven expertise in a high-volume bakery environment as a pastry chef or other similar role
• Prior experience in managing employees
• Strong customer service background, with the ability to create personalized experiences and address guest needs promptly and professionally
• Familiarity with the dynamics of working in a resort or casino environment

Responsibilities

• Restock kitchen supplies and food items required for service
• Label and date products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation
• Maintain production knowledge and attention to detail with decoration and taste quality
• Assist Pastry Chef, other Assistant Pastry Chefs, bakers, and helpers as needed in execution of production
• Conduct training for bakers and helpers on job responsibilities
• Communicate with management and service staff to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and employees
• Assist Executive Chef and Pastry Chef by controlling food and labor cost, and establish goals and objectives that focus on profit, product and people
• Assist Executive Chef and Pastry Chef by controlling purchasing, receiving, purveyor lists and inventory of all kitchen items
