Assistant Pastor of Mission and Outreach

Redeemer Presbyterian ChurchNew York, NY
$100,000 - $120,000

About The Position

Redeemer Lincoln Square (LSQ) is a congregation of 850 active congregants, the majority of whom are professional New Yorkers navigating one of the most post-Christian cultural environments in America. LSQ is in a significant moment of growth and expansion. An important cornerstone of our current 5-year strategic plan includes building out community engagement and evangelism. In light of this, LSQ is seeking an Assistant Pastor to develop, execute, and lead the church's strategic vision for mission. The ideal candidate is someone who is equal parts theological architect and practitioner. The Assistant Pastor will work in collaboration with the Senior Pastor and ministry leaders in a team-based environment to translate vision into aligned ministry initiatives. This candidate must be deeply grounded in the gospel, culturally fluent in post-Christian urban contexts, and compelled by the conviction that the church exists for others.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 year pastoral experience
  • Minimum of four years of undergraduate education and a theological degree from an accredited seminary or equivalent required. Master of Divinity (M.Div.) preferred. This position is open to teaching elders ordained or ordainable in the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA).
  • A strong commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with the core theological principles of Redeemer Lincoln Square and the PCA, including the Westminster Standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in evangelism ministry, community engagement, and mercy/justice work in an urban context.
  • Cultural fluency in post-Christian, educated, professional urban environments.
  • Strong communicator who is able to teach, preach, facilitate, and lead training with clarity and gospel-warmth.
  • Genuine love for skeptics, seekers, and the marginalized; a practitioner of relational evangelism.
  • Ability to build systems and programs from early-stage concepts to operational reality.
  • Team player with high emotional intelligence; able to collaborate with pastors, staff, elders, deacons, and volunteers.
  • Prior ministry experience in New York City or a similar global city context.
  • Evangelistic Heart: Missionary instincts that prioritize reaching the lost, with creativity in developing evangelism strategies for skeptical, time-constrained urbanites
  • Experience implementing and leading seeker-oriented programming.
  • Gospel Fluency: Deep theological grounding in Reformed theology, with the cultural intelligence to communicate the gospel compellingly to post-Christian, urban professionals
  • Preaching Excellence: Exceptional pulpit skills that reflect both intellectual rigor and pastoral warmth, with demonstrated ability to engage skeptics and believers alike
  • Leadership Development: Proven capacity to identify, coach, and deploy emerging leaders into ministry, with a track record of building replicable training pathways
  • Deep integration with Redeemer’s theological framework and DNA, or similar gospel-centered renewal movements.
  • Demonstrate relational health in key family and interpersonal relationships.
