About The Position

Over colorful terraces along the Big Horn River in Thermopolis, water from the mineral hot springs flows at a constant temperature of 128 degrees Fahrenheit. Hot Springs State Park is a day-use park that features a free bathhouse where the water is maintained at 104 degrees for therapeutic bathing, 6.2 miles of universally accessible trails, hiking trails, comfort stations, a volksmarch trail, a bison herd, a suspension footbridge, beautiful summer flower gardens, reservable group picnic shelters, fishing, and a boat ramp. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (typically in Park Management )
  • 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Park Management)
  • OR
  • 3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Park Management)
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference may be given to applicants with at least one year of management experience in a park or outdoor recreation setting.
  • Knowledge of historically-appropriate building restoration and maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge of State personnel rules; hazmat laws and regulations, and commercial pesticide application.
  • Knowledge of Wyoming State statutes and enforcement.
  • Knowledge of Federal, state and agency procedures on avariety of issues.
  • Knowledge of heavy machinery such as dump trucks, fire trucks, tractors, and power boats.
  • Knowledge of shop tools to repair heavy machinery.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of pump maintenance and operation.

Responsibilities

  • Personnel Management. Hire, train, schedule, supervise, discipline, accurately submit time sheets, perform personnel reviews, and terminate permanent and seasonal employees.
  • Budget Management. Plan, project and recommend changes to biennial budget, regularly monitor and track budget, make purchases, ensure prompt and thorough completion of required paperwork, and work within assigned budget, SRA requests and major maintenance.
  • Buildings and Grounds Maintenance. Assess facility maintenance needs, including sewer systems, shelters, bison herd,visitor center, Bath House, Water Gallery, Heat Exchanger system, and maintenance database.
  • Equipment and Vehicle Management. Acquire, maintain, and dispose of equipment, vehicles, and tools. Maintain equipment and vehicle inventory.
  • Public Relations. Management of community public relations, including public programs and events.
  • Public Programming. Develop, implement, review and adapt exhibits, and/or programming and marketing to fit the changing needs of the agency or the visitor.
  • Customer Service. Assist with managing the public meeting space reservation systems. Professionally handle customer complaints and promote customer satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.
