About The Position

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Give instructions and work direction to line workers. Learn the full operation of the equipment, support, perform Q.C. checks and properly complete required documentation. This position will be expected to operate scaling, metal detection and filling machines. DESCRIPTION OF PRIMARY DUTIES: START UP · Coordinate product movement with Forklift Operator. · Know what the product schedule states, and the sequence products are to be run. Inform line workers of product specifications, special information, and schedule attainment goals. · Check machine for loose, missing or broken parts and make sure all safety guards are in place before start-up. · Set up per machine specifications, using flow chart. (bag length, seals, code date, nitrogen checks, printers, expiration date, taper, and perform bag size changes. · Set up and maintain hourly production tracking board/White board workstation. · Maintain and follow white board/workstation guidelines DESCRIPTION OF PRIMARY DUTIES: · Ability to work with a variety of equipment. · Follow product specification charts. · Keeps work area clean, organized and free of clutter · Train and direct employees. Provide work direction and training, as necessary, to packaging workers. · Perform Q.C. checks, and metal detector verification checks. · Ensure proper ergonomic rotation is taking place. · Accurately complete paperwork in a legible manner which includes downtime, machine log, Q.C. charts, and work orders. · Assist with team directing during change over and/or cleaning processes. · Tags out product at the end of runs, and end of the night with accurate inventory information. · Report any safety matters or malfunctions to the Lead Person, Machine Operator or Supervisor. · Reports any product or material issues, or foreign materials to the Lead or Supervisor · Perform all job functions within required GMP's, and ensures line workers are doing the same. · Coordinate product movement with Forklift Operator. · Understands and uses production schedules. · Understands organic, and allergen control requirements · Work with maintenance to help trouble shooting of equipment issues. · Make sure all employees are working in a safe environment. · Know internal customers and meet their needs · Verify that product meets quality standards · Interact with other departments in a positive manner · Work in a fast paced environment · Interact with co-workers in a positive manner. · Maintains confidentiality with all Waymouth Farms information and procedures. · Actively participates in cleans, changeovers, and operations. · Assists maintenance in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical issues.

Requirements

  • Able to effectively speak, read, and write English.
  • Able to work in a fast pace environment.

  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good basic math aptitude and ability to use scales and calculators (must pass basic math test)
  • High School Diploma or GED

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience in packaging environment preferably operating machines in a food manufacturing facility.
  • Basic computer skills
