About The Position

The Peter O'Donnell Jr. School of Public Health (OSPH) at UT Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with expertise in pediatric population health. The ideal candidate will be a public health researcher or clinician scientist with training in epidemiological methods, and statistical analysis. Expertise in behavioral, and environmental determinants of pediatric mental and behavioral health is highly desirable. This position will be housed within the OSPH, with the potential for a secondary appointment in the department of pediatrics and/or psychiatry at UTSW, depending on the candidate's qualifications. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty across UTSW and its affiliated health systems, including Children's Health System of Texas (CHST), to advance pediatric population health research and practice. The faculty member will play a key role in advancing the mission of the Center for Pediatric Population Health (CAPHP), a collaborative initiative between the OSPH and CHST, dedicated to improving health outcomes and reducing disparities in pediatric populations through innovative research, policy translation, and community engagement.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. or Dr.PH. in epidemiology, public health, psychology, social work, statistics, or a related field; or an M.D. with an accompanying public health graduate degree and a minimum of five years of research experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting behavioral or mental health research, data analysis, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Experience in pediatric public health, behavioral or mental health prevention, and/or the design, implementation, and evaluation of health interventions in pediatric populations.
  • A strong record of mentorship and teaching at the graduate level is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead an independent research program focused on pediatric behavioral or mental health and broader pediatric health initiatives.
  • Secure external funding to support research activities.
  • Engage in collaborative research with faculty across CAPHP, OSPH, CHST, UTSW clinical departments, and affiliated institutions.
  • Teach and mentor graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in public health and related disciplines.
  • Contribute to service activities within OSPH, UTSW, CAPHP, and the broader community.
  • For clinician-scientists, clinical duties may be available within affiliated hospitals and clinics at UTSW.
