About The Position

The Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Human Services seeks applicants for a tenure-track position at the level of either Assistant or Associate Professor. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in either Sociology or Criminal Justice, and should be prepared to teach a range of required courses in the Criminal Justice curriculum, as well as introductory courses in Sociology. Candidates who are qualified to teach classes in Forensic Science are especially encouraged to apply. All candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates; experience teaching at the undergraduate level is preferred.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Sociology or Criminal Justice.
  • Additional expertise in Forensic Science is preferred.
  • Teaching experience, especially university-level research methods, is preferred.
  • Commitment to actively support and advance student perseverance and success.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate level.
  • Expertise in Forensic Science.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching load consists of a 4/4 schedule, or 12 credit hours a semester.
  • Devote 60% of time to teaching, and 40% of time on scholarship and service.
  • Involvement in University committees as assigned by the Faculty Governance Structure.
  • Service to the profession and the department.
  • Mentoring and advising a diverse population of students.
  • Regular, predictable attendance on campus.
  • Alignment with the University's mission, vision, and strategic roadmap.
  • Other job duties/responsibilities may be assigned.
