About The Position

The Idaho State University Nuclear Engineering Department is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The Department is seeking candidates with capabilities and experience in various Nuclear Engineering fields. Candidates with nuclear oriented digital twin, machine learning, or artificial intelligence are especially sought. The Idaho State University Nuclear Engineering Department offers Nuclear Engineering degrees at the bachelors, masters and Ph.D. levels. Most departmental lecture courses are simultaneously available on the Pocatello and Idaho Falls campuses, and also are available online via the University’s online learning management system (LMS). Many courses are provided in the early evening to accommodate Idaho National Laboratory employees.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate in nuclear engineering or a related field.

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrated experience and teaching in nuclear engineering.
• Postdoctoral experience.
• Pre-existing ties to or potential joint appointments with federal or state entities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in areas including reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, nuclear fuels and materials, scientific computing, and nuclear safety.
• Teach courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
• Develop externally funded research.
• Contribute to the operation and promotion of the Department, the University, and the profession.
