About The Position

The Assistant or Associate Professor of Interiors at the College of Architecture and Design (CoAD) is responsible for teaching, advising students, and engaging in service activities within the department. This role emphasizes a commitment to innovative design practices, collaborative scholarship, and the integration of emerging technologies in the field of interior design. The position aims to prepare students for critical engagement in design thinking and visual literacy, fostering a diverse and inclusive educational environment.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Interior Architecture from a CIDA-accepted or NAAB-accredited program.
  • Potential for NCIDQ certification.
  • Experience in commercial design and the field of interiors.
  • Demonstrated practice-based studio and lecture-based teaching experience at the college level.
  • Ability to work with and promote a diverse student body.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in collaborative scholarship.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies in design.
  • Strong connections within the Metro Detroit design scene.

Responsibilities
