The University of Houston Department of Economics invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor level to begin August 2026. We will consider candidates in all areas of Applied Microeconomics, but with a preference for candidates with research expertise in health. The candidate is expected to conduct research with the goal of publishing in leading economics journals, teach economics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, serve as a research mentor to doctoral students, and interact effectively with colleagues to support and enhance the department's intellectual atmosphere. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Economics or are expected to complete their Ph.D. in Economics by August 2026. Applications must include: (1) cover letter; (2) curriculum vitae; (3) job-market paper; and (4) contact information of three or more references to provide reference letters. Candidates may also include additional material they think is pertinent for the position (e.g., other research papers, research and teaching statements, teaching evaluations, etc.). Review of candidates will begin November 15, 2025 and will continue until the position is filled. The department will conduct virtual first-round interviews, followed by in-person flyouts for selected candidates. Salary and rank commensurate with experience.
