About The Position

The Blair College of Health at Queens University of Charlotte invites applications for two full-time Assistant or Associate Professor, 9‐month faculty positions in Exercise and Sport Science (ESS) beginning August 2026. We seek an energetic, collaborative faculty member who will contribute to the student experience and the mission of the department, college, and university. The growing ESS curriculum includes robust internship opportunities and satisfies the necessary prerequisites for most physical therapy and occupational therapy graduate programs. Students in this program have the goal of attending graduate school in health‐related fields or using their undergraduate degrees in exercise and sport science to begin careers in clinical, rehabilitation, community health, or strength and conditioning areas. The ESS Program is committed to inclusive and innovative undergraduate teaching. The ESS Program is housed in the Department of Health and Human Performance. The faculty member will report to the Chair of the Department. Primary teaching responsibility will be for undergraduate students. Additional teaching responsibilities may include teaching in the nationally distinctive Queens General Education or Honors programs. Queens' faculty also have the opportunity to propose and lead study abroad programs. This position is exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible to earn overtime pay or compensatory time off for additional hours worked.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in Exercise and Sport Science or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Theoretical and applied knowledge in the field of Exercise and Sport Science.
  • The ability to provide academic and career advising to students.
  • Passion for undergraduate education of traditional and post‐traditional adult students at all levels of proficiency, demonstrating knowledge of effective and innovative teaching methods.
  • Commitment to professional development, scholarship, professional service, and maintenance of professional credentials.
  • The ability to make connections across disciplines and in the community on behalf of students and the university, including the development of internships beneficial to the student experience.
  • Knowledge of program assessment, curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • The ability to conduct research and mentor students at the undergraduate level in this area.
  • Theoretical knowledge and expertise in the course content area.
  • Ability to contribute to curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Ability to use learner-centered, high-impact, active teaching strategies in classroom and online environments.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
  • Commitment to professional development and maintenance of professional credentials.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience (classroom and online) at the university level in one or more of the following areas: introduction to exercise science, biomechanics, motor behavior, exercise physiology, applied kinesiology, and anatomy.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in exercise and sport science curriculum (Introductory courses, Biomechanics, Motor Behavior, Exercise and Sport Science, and Strength and Conditioning).
  • Engagement in curriculum design and assessment within the program.
  • Conduct research leading to presentations and publications.
