About The Position

The McGill University Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology and the Segal Cancer Centre of the Jewish General Hospital (JGH) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time position as a member of the Contract Academic Staff as a clinician teacher/clinician-investigator at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical) based at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH). The professorial rank will be determined according to the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. This will be a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure. The McGill University Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology is a leader in academic medicine. The Segal Cancer Centre is part of the Jewish General Hospital, which is one of the major teaching hospitals affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec.

Requirements

  • Hold an MD degree (or equivalent) and must hold, or be eligible for, licensure in the province of Quebec
  • Have completed postgraduate clinical training in Internal Medicine
  • Hold certification in Medical Oncology, with certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent)
  • Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec. Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families, and health care professionals.

  • Additional graduate training (e.g., MSc or PhD) will be considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert, patient-centered care to individuals with GI malignancies, including colorectal, upper GI, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic cancer
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and collaborative care pathway
  • Maintain a focused but balanced clinical practice that supports academic productivity
  • Participate in in-patient ward rotation and hospital-based consultation service.
  • Lead and expand a portfolio of GI oncology clinical trials (phase I–III), including investigator-initiated and cooperative group studies
  • Serve as Principal Investigator and/or Co-Principal Investigator on clinical trials, with an emphasis on innovative trial design and translational endpoint
  • Collaborate with clinical research units, sponsors, and regulatory teams to ensure high-quality trial conduct and patient accrual
  • Mentor trainees, fellows, and junior faculty in clinical research and trial methodology.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of AI-driven tools in oncology, such as predictive modeling, clinical decision support, and outcomes research
  • Support the ethical, responsible, and clinically meaningful adoption of AI technologies within the oncology department.
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and allied health professional
  • Contribute to academic conferences, seminars, and continuing medical education activities
  • Engage in scholarly activity resulting in peer-reviewed publications and presentation
  • Commitment to mentorship, career development, and work-life integration.
  • Actively involved in relevant aspects of McGill’s academic mission (e.g., teaching and supervision of clinical trainees and/or graduate students, and involvement in academic and administrative committees).
  • Contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
