About The Position

This is a nine-month, tenure track appointment (60% Extension, 35% research and 5% service) position with two months of summer salary (11.111% per month) guaranteed in the Department of Animal and Dairy Science (ADS) in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at the University of Georgia. The position will be located at the UGA Tifton Campus.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in Animal Science or a closely related field.
  • To be considered for the rank of Associate Professor, candidates must have at least 5 years of rank at the Assistant Professor level and show evidence of emerging stature as regional or national authorities.
  • Candidates must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and provide leadership for a relevant nationally/internationally recognized beef cattle Extension and research program.
  • Interact with county agents and other scientists in developing a state-of-the-art information/technology transfer program for the Georgia Beef Industry.
  • Direct the Tifton Bull Evaluation Center and Heifer Evaluation and Reproductive Development (HERD) Program.
  • Conduct research activities based on the successful candidate's area of expertise, with an emphasis on an externally funded, applied research program.
  • Participate in the Junior Livestock Program.
