About The Position

The purpose of the Operator is to assist in leading the daily asphalt production process. You will work as part of a team to produce batches of high-quality asphalt products safely, efficiently and at a fast pace. Good mechanical skills, basic computer skills (training available) and good team communication skills are required. This job also requires excellent self-direction working alone at times or in small teams with little direct supervision.

  • Lift and push and pull 50lbs. More than 100 times per day
  • Able to do repetitive hand, arm, leg movements for 12 hours
  • Must be able to squat, bend at the waist and knees freely
  • Exposure to temperature extremes
  • Exposure to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Bending and twisting
  • Handle, control or feel objects, tools or control
  • Repetitive movements
  • Able to climb on and off a forklift
  • It is a requirement to be a U.S. citizen OR have valid proof of authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Notify your supervisor immediately of any accident, near miss or on- the -job injury when it occurs no matter how insignificant it may seem.
  • Take personal ownership to work safely each day and hold other team members to the same high standards of safety
  • Works to achieve zero injuries, zero defects and zero losses.
  • Participates in plant TPM initiatives - completing activities associated with TPM tasks.
  • Zero Defects: works to achieve zero scrap or seconds
  • Communicate effectively when going on breaks and during shift changes
  • Report unsafe conditions immediately to supervisor
  • Fix unsafe conditions and report them immediately to supervisor
  • Certify and operate in all the following areas: Polymer Modified Asphalt processing, Tanker truck loading and unloading, Flatbed truck loading and unloading, Railcar processing, Quality Control Procedures, Pre-Heater/Incinerator Operation, Boiler Operation, and Converter Operation.
  • Perform the administrative tracking tasks of data entry, BOL processing, production entry, receiving, and general organization in SAP, Excel, and MS Word.
  • Be able to climb tanks with heights of 50’, read panel displays, use operating manuals for troubleshooting, able to stand on your feet for most of the time in a 12-hour shift.
  • Become certified to operate a forklift.
  • Test, measure and enter data on quality using our computer system requiring general math skills and the ability to discern variation.
  • Attend, participate and help lead monthly meetings and training.
  • Participate in projects, equipment repairs and upgrades with maintenance personnel.
  • Possess the ability to learn and follow all plant environmental control policies and procedures.
  • Must be reliable, willing to work with others as a team, to perform day to day work or to help make and implement process improvements.
  • Complies with good housekeeping practices on the job.
  • Follows all environmental compliance polices & programs.
  • Comply with all plant rules
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Regular Attendance on site and ability to rotate to varying shifts
  • All other duties as assigned or needed
