As Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM), you will provide clinical supervision and unit coordination within the Med/Surg and Inpatient Rehab units as well as the Float Pool. These units care for a wide variety of patients ranging from those with chronic illnesses to those recovering from acute strokes, orthopedic, trauma, and respiratory issues. With an emphasis on professional development and success, you will encourage caregivers to enhance their skills and the patient experience through improvement initiatives and incentives. This position offers a great way to gain extensive leadership experience while continuing to provide the best support and treatment possible. The ideal caregiver for this role should possess strong communication and critical thinking skills as well as the ability to be directed by and work with leaders on top of being self-driven. By taking on this role, your decisions will impact efficiency and patient throughput and help to improve patient care and safety. A caregiver in this position works varying shifts in order to meet the needs of the department. Evening/night shift hours will primarily need to be covered.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing
  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Two years of recent clinical nurse experience
  • Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills; good oral, written and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and organization skills
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
  • You will be required to comply with this program, which will include obtaining an influenza vaccination on an annual basis or obtaining an approved exemption.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and support to the unit staff and supervises admissions, conduct assessment of patient's needs and initiate nursing care plans.
  • Evaluate and document patient progress.
  • Facilitate the planning, implementation, development and evaluation of nursing programs, initiatives and objectives for the unit.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.
  • Serve as a liaison between the manager, staff and other areas within the organization.
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit.
  • Prepare schedule of work assignments to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives.
  • Participate in departments and committees as assigned.
  • Assist in orienting new personnel, continuing education and in-service educational programs.
