About The Position

We are seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for our Center for Advanced Joint Replacement to support the Nurse Manager in the overall administrative direction for the clinical practice of nursing and the delivery of high‑quality, cost‑effective care for all patients and families served on this unit. This role shares 24‑hour responsibility and accountability for all aspects of daily operations in partnership with the Nurse Manager. The Center for Advanced Joint Replacement is a 30‑bed inpatient surgical unit located at Wilmington Hospital in Delaware. The unit specializes in knee and hip replacement patients and serves as an elective surgical unit with a primary focus on joint replacement and bariatric surgery. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nursing required.
  • Master’s required within 5 years of hire.
  • Active RN license required.
  • Surgical inpatient experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years of appropriate clinical and leadership experience in the specialty area.
  • Current certification in a related specialty required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Nurse Manager in overall administrative and clinical leadership for the delivery of high‑quality, efficient nursing care.
  • Act as a liaison with other hospital departments to enhance program development and clinical excellence.
  • Participate in decisions regarding hiring, promotions, salary adjustments, and terminations.
  • Serve as a transparent and engaged role model, demonstrating professional behaviors and supporting staff development aligned with ChristianaCare’s strategic goals.
  • Identify opportunities for new programs and services to enhance clinical excellence.
  • Direct, mentor, and support staff at all levels while promoting a Relationship‑Based Care model.
  • Support succession planning by identifying and developing potential future leaders.
  • Analyze administrative and operational functions and implement system‑wide improvements.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor performance improvement and patient‑safety initiatives.
