Join the historic legacy of Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Our NICU, founded in 1961 by Dr. Mildred Stahlman, was one of the first specialized programs in the world for preterm infants. Today, we are a premier Level IV Tertiary Care Center, caring for over 1,400 fragile newborns each year. As an Assistant Nurse Manager, you will be at the forefront of clinical excellence, leading our Complex Infant Lung and Airway Disease Unit. The IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE: Empower Your Team: Lead and mentor a dedicated staff of approximately 40 employees across a specialized 15-bed technology-dependent unit and a 38-bed NICU unit. Drive Clinical Excellence: Ensure the delivery of exceptional, evidence-based care for infants with complex medical needs. Strategic Collaboration: Partner with multidisciplinary teams to optimize unit operations, patient safety, and family-centered care. JOB SUMMARY The Assistant Nurse Manager of Patient Care Services is a direct supervisory leadership role that is a key member of the Nursing leadership team. Leads staff members and actively participates in overall management of the area, development of clinical practice, and provision of patient care with accountabilities for implementation and outcomes for people leadership, quality, service, compliance, finance, throughput and scheduling. Ensures the unit's optimal performance by engaging in effective problem solving for staff, patients and families and to develop/lead the assigned staff. Provides feedback and coaching to staff members, recognizing them for their contributions while fostering a high performance culture. Under the guidance and direction of the manager, develops, implements and evaluates systems that promote cost effective quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of registered nursing experience.
  • Clinical Expertise: Experience in NICU, PICU, PCICU, or Pediatrics is highly preferred.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership experience is strongly preferred.
  • LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
  • Relevant Work Experience Experience Level: 2 years
  • Bachelor's

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical Expertise: Experience in NICU, PICU, PCICU, or Pediatrics is highly preferred.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Under guidance of manager, implements area specific quality planned linked to the organizations goals.
  • Develops, manages and evaluates area based on work team performance.
  • Manages projects/on-going work activities (timelines, work plans, deliverables) and maintains alignment with strategic plan and vision.
  • Acts as clinical leader and facilitates education for staff on clinical standards; routinely provides guidance/coaching to subordinates/peers within clinical specialty(ies).
  • Ensures that clinical assignments are based on patient care needs and demonstrated staff competencies.
