About The Position

The Assistant Nurse Manager is the primary support person for the direction and coordination of the nursing care for a specific patient care area. The Assistant Nurse Manager collaborates in the assessment, evaluation, daily operations, and planning for nursing care in the clinical area. They are responsible for working collaboratively with the Unit Leadership team to plan for, supervise and evaluate all program operations and patient care delivery in the clinical area. The Assistant Nurse Manager responsibilities will include but not limited to participating in hiring and evaluation of staff, setting and maintaining standards of nursing care and practice, coordinating service for patients, organizational planning, compliance with regulatory standards, providing professional growth of staff and clinical coaching on the unit and bedside with all staff. The Assistant Nurse Manager shares joint responsibility for all outcomes of the unit to include patient satisfaction, employee engagement and fiscal responsibility. AHA-BLS certification is required however, certification is not a qualifying factor to obtain the position. Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital boasts 300 inpatient beds, inpatient acute rooms that are all private, and a Skilled Nursing Facility. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required or in progress. Masters preferred.
  • Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
  • Certification in specialty preferred or active involvement with completion within twelve (12) months.
  • AHA-BLS is required or current non-AHA-BLS card will be honored up to date of renewal.
  • Demonstrates leadership with good oral and written communication skills.
  • Critical Care: Current ACLS, critical care course within 2 months required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant clinical experience determined by the Associate Vice President or Vice President required.
  • Specific experience per unit criteria preferred.
  • Microsoft Office, quality/risk management system, electronic medical record system, bed management system as applicable, transport/resource management system as applicable, learning management system, staffing/scheduling system, automated medication dispensing system as applicable, MSDS, automated communication system and other role specific technology preferred.
  • As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of patients for which care is being provided.
