Cedars-Sinai seeks an ambitious and experienced professional for the role of Assistant Nurse Manager in our Emergency Department at Marina del Rey Hospital. Our Emergency Department (ED) has 15 patient beds and sees on average 120 people a day. There are Registered Nurses, Break RNs, Charge Nurses, Physicians, Physicians Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners on this cohesive multidisciplinary team. Our emergency medicine specialists are dedicated to providing comprehensive, leading-edge emergency care to a diverse population. Future State: The Emergency Department Assistant Nurse Manager (ED-ANM) assumes the roles, responsibilities, and duties of the Pediatric Liaison Nurse (PdLN). These are specified for the unit approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) designation. Qualifications and responsibilities for the PdLN are outlined in the Los Angeles County Department of Health Standards – Reference No. 316. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the daily 24-hour operations of the assigned unit/area to ensure high-quality, individualized patient care.
  • Serve as a leader and expert professional practitioner, assuming accountability for the expert application of the nursing process.
  • Supervise clinical performance, demonstrating motivation and creativity to drive effective change within the department.
  • Ensure nursing staff perform within their scope of responsibility and align with all regulatory requirements.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and retention of staff, ensuring compliance with National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Assist with administrative processes, including human resources, budgeting, quality improvement planning, and educational development programs.
  • Provide leadership in patient care delivery and nursing practices, ensuring efficient and compliant care.
  • Coordinate performance management, developing action plans to support staff development and improve performance.
  • Collaborate with Nurse Management to address quality of care standards and patient safety concerns.
  • Facilitate patient flow management, including admissions and discharges.
  • Ensure documentation of patient care services for safety and comfort.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary team approach to discharge planning and team rounding.
  • Supervise patient assignments based on staff proficiencies and patient needs.
  • Monitor completion of mandatory proficiencies and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in emergency management and disaster preparedness.
  • Assist with budget planning, recruitment, and retention efforts, and manage staff meetings.
  • Support departmental initiatives through participation in meetings and clinical forums.
  • Develop nursing knowledge through in-service and proficiency programs.
