About The Position

UW Medical Center-Northwest - Orthopedic/Neurosurgery Unit (1E Surgical) has an outstanding opportunity for a Night Shift Assistant Nurse Manager. WORK SCHEDULE Full time / 100% FTE Night shifts (7:00pm-7:30am) 32 hours per week as the Assistant Nurse Manager and 8 hours per week of administrative time Rotating weekend shifts required DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION We are a 43-bed unit at a community hospital We support low acuity telemetry patients, general medical patients, and orthopedic and neurosurgery surgery patients Common surgical procedures on our floor include knee, hip, and joint replacements, calcified bone treatments, neck surgeries, and laminectomies Our staffing grid consistently allows for 1:4 and 1:5 nurse to patient ratios POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Join an organization that supports nursing leadership Lead a close-knit team where everyone's contributions are recognized ABOUT UW MEDICAL CENTER-NORTHWEST UW Medical Center is an acute care hospital located in Seattle with two campuses: Montlake and Northwest. Requirements

2 years of inpatient hospital nursing experience
Previous charge, lead, or supervisory nursing experience
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State

Responsibilities

Act as a shift supervisor, responsible for clinical functions, staffing assignments, and care coordination
Act as the main onsite leadership when the Nurse Manager is not present
Oversee patient placement and throughput
Escalate operational issues and liaise with the Administrator On-Call
Plan and implement unit orientation for clinical staff (RNs and CNAs)
Foster clinical excellence and incorporate clinical standards into daily practice
Provide performance feedback to the Nurse Manager during annual performance evaluations
Provide "just in time" feedback to staff regarding clinical performance, interpersonal team interactions, and patient communications
Respond appropriately to emergency situations and drills
Promote practices and decisions that reduce human error and promote patient safety
