This downtown Stuart hospital provides top-quality patient care to the communities in and around Martin County on the beautiful St. Lucie River. The caregivers at Martin North Hospital have made it an excellent medical facility and a home away from home. Martin North Hospital is looking to add an Assistant Nurse Manager to the team who will help oversee the Pre- and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This unit cares for pre- and post-operative patients undergoing surgical cases including, but not limited to, general, thoracic, robotics and cardiovascular surgeries. By taking on this role, you will provide clinical supervision and unit coordination to the PACU. With an emphasis on professional development and success, you will encourage caregivers to enhance their skills and the patient experience through improvement initiatives and incentives. 30% of your day will consist of administrative tasks such as coordinating staff scheduling, training, procedural scheduling and patient throughput, and Kronos work, while the other 70% will consist of hands-on patient care. This position offers a great way to gain extensive leadership experience while continuing to provide the best support and treatment possible. A caregiver in this position works days from 9:00AM – 6:30PM or 8:00AM – 5:30PM, with on-call requirements. Due to the on-call requirement, this caregiver must live within 45 minutes of Martin North Hospital.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Two years of recent clinical nursing experience
  • Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and organization skills

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of critical care or Emergency Department experience

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate unit clinical operations.
  • Provide patient care.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit caregivers and other departments/units.
  • Ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts.
  • Coordinate patient admitting, discharges, transfers and other operational issues.
  • Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
  • Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers, counsel caregivers on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions and monitor attendance issues.
  • Interview, select and orient new caregivers.
  • Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage on all shifts.
  • Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes, studies and research initiatives.
  • Assume responsibilities of the Nurse Manager in their absence.
