About The Position

Cleveland Clinic's H60 Neuroscience Unit is a specialized unit that oversees multiple neurology conditions, such as stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, brain and spine tumors, Parkinson's Disease, epilepsy, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, Myasthenia Gravis, degenerative brain diseases and spinal disorders, and provides caregivers with a lot of versatility and exposure. Our unit prides itself on providing new caregiver orientation that is individualized to ensure success. We encourage participation in opportunities to enhance the orientation learning experience such as operating room observation time, interactive case studies with our nurse practitioners and residents, clinic observations, and more. We also support new nurses with one-on-one preceptors, as well as weekly progress meetings. Join our unit and take part in some of the most complex procedures in healthcare, such as craniotomies for brain tumors, shunts, aneurysm coiling/clipping, deep brain stimulators, SA drain evaluations, spinal procedures, laminectomy, discectomy and fusions with hardware.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing
  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Two years of recent clinical nursing experience
  • Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate unit clinical operations.
  • Provide patient care.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit caregivers and other departments/units.
  • Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
  • Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers, counsel caregivers on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions and monitor attendance issues.
  • Interview, select and orient new caregivers.
  • Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage on all shifts.
  • Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes, studies and research initiatives.
  • Assume responsibilities of the Nurse Manager in their absence.
