About The Position

The Assistant Nurse Manager plays an integral role in supporting the management of nursing services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, and fostering a collaborative and positive work environment. This role works closely with the Director of Inpatient Nursing, Nurse Manager, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to uphold and enhance care standards within the facility. The Assistant Nurse Manager is committed to ethical decision-making, providing compassionate care, and showing respect for each patient's dignity. Clear communication with patients, families, staff, physicians, and leadership is critical to maintaining top-quality patient care and safety. In this role, the Assistant Nurse Manager demonstrates accountability, professionalism, and a commitment to the values of UNC Health Appalachian. The position involves responding to emergencies, managing changes in patient conditions, and ensuring a healthy, efficient work environment. The Assistant Nurse Manager will also assist with delegating tasks and managing nursing teams effectively under general supervision.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• At least two years of registered nursing experience is highly preferred.
• Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association at the time of hire.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations, standards, and accreditation requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to patient care.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively within nursing teams.
• Competent in delivering safe, effective care within the scope of practice and hospital policies.
• Strong commitment to customer service and patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities
