About The Position

UH Parma Medical Center- ICU is an 18-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit that cares for high-acuity, critically ill patients requiring continuous monitoring and advanced life sustaining therapies, including ventilators, dialysis, and complex medication management. The unit fosters a unique team environment built on trust, collaboration, and shared purpose, where colleagues support each other during complex clinical situations and critical decision-making. The Assistant Nurse Manager role involves maintaining the nursing staff in all areas and delivering safe, efficient, age-specific nursing care to patients and their families.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) within 2 years of hire date or Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) within 2 years of hire date
  • 1+ years clinical experience
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills both written and verbal, as well as, exhibiting strong organizational skills and work ethic.
  • Demonstrates a professional demeanor when responding to patients/customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high pressure situations with professionalism and integrity.
  • Knowledge of current technology and equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies
  • PC and computer applications
  • Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certification in a specialty clinical area or leadership (Required within 2 Years)

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit.

Responsibilities

  • Routinely provide patient care.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintains employee records.
  • Identifies needs for and provides Staff education/staff development.
  • Participates in Discharge planning, community resource referrals, and education.
  • Committee involvement, participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Oversees daily operations of unit/area in a cost-effective manner.
  • Involved in Community outreach activities as pertinent.
  • Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients/customers and co-workers.
  • Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment.
  • Displays commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • Abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
