About The Position

ChristianaCare is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to support our Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit (4E) at the Newark campus. This 38-bed unit provides specialized care for patients recovering from cardiac and vascular procedures, including cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, treatment of dysrhythmias, myocardial infarction, and vascular surgeries such as femoral-popliteal bypass, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomy, and carotid stent placement. As an Assistant Nurse Manager, you will play a key role in both clinical and administrative operations, ensuring the delivery of exceptional, patient-centered care. You'll collaborate with a dedicated team to maintain high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. You'll promote evidence-based practices and foster a collaborative and positive work environment. Our Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit is proud to hold a Silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses-recognizing our commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and outstanding patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Master's Degree in a nursing, healthcare or business management field required or currently enrolled to be obtained within 5 years of promotion into position.
  • Three to Five years appropriate clinical and leadership experience required.
  • Professional certification in a related nursing specialty required.
  • BLS Certification required
  • Current nursing licensure in the State of Delaware or compact state

Nice To Haves

  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • ACLS certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervises all nursing and technical personnel: Assesses competency of staff, oversees daily staffing and scheduling needs of department, evaluate staff performance, counsel/coach staff member as needed.
  • Participates in hiring, promotion, and termination decisions.
  • Functions as role model, demonstrating quality expertise and professional behaviors.
  • Directs, mentors and supports all levels of staff.
  • Develops, implements and monitors performance improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Identifies and develops strategies to improve the overall knowledge base and professionalism of staff.
  • Analyzes administrative and operational functions; implements appropriate changes and system wide improvements.
