The Cancer Center understands the concerns and needs of patients and families navigating the complexities of a cancer diagnosis. This experienced team of Oncology and Hematology specialists work together to bring advanced services to the next level by treating the patient, not the disease. As Assistant Nurse Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily clinical operations of outpatient clinics. You will provide professional nursing care to a designated patient population across multiple care settings and supervise RNs, LPNs, MAs, and other patient care staff within a specific service line to ensure high-quality care. This role includes proactively identifying and resolving patient care and staffing issues, as well as participating in the hiring, onboarding, annual performance evaluations, and performance improvement initiatives. A caregiver in this position works Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. will cover Akron General’s Satellites Green, Stow and Bath locations with occasional coverage at Akron General Hospital.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
  • Two years recent experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, decision-making and conflict resolution skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversee nursing personnel and patient care providers in the clinical setting.
  • Coordinate activities to ensure quality and safe patient care.
  • Anticipate and resolve patient care and personnel issues.
  • In conjunction with the clinical manager, assure maintenance of annual staff competencies and continuing education.
  • Perform duties of the RN as needed.
  • Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure smooth and effective transition of care.
  • Participate and/or coordinate committees, task forces, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Participate in department leadership meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and patient safety initiatives.
  • Assume responsibilities of the clinical manager as needed.
