Our programs include an Early Intervention Program for children ages 0-3, our Anderson School, a special education school for children ages 3-16 who have complex medical needs and Woodbridge School, our early childhood education program. The Anderson School in Andover, MA provides a safe and nurturing special education school for students ages 3-16 years old with complex medical needs to maximize each student’s independence and growth. Our highly skilled, experienced and dedicated staff provide individualized instruction and support, including educational and therapeutic programming. Our stimulating classroom setting includes specially designed classrooms to promote positive and active learning. High staff to student ratios including nurses in each classroom means our 11-month program can enable non-traditional learners to have a traditional school experience. Family support is paramount including providing various on-site clinics and services to help our parents. Our school is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm and follows a school calendar, including a summer session. The Assistant Nurse leader , under supervision of the nurse leader, promotes and maintains the health and well-being of students, allowing them to participate in all aspects of their school day. They will work closely with the Nurse Leader in assisting Classroom Nurses, staff, and therapists to support their work with students throughout the day, as well as assume assigned duties when the Nurse Leader is not present or available. This includes administering medications and treatments as necessary in the classroom setting based on student’s needs and doctor’s orders; treatments may include but are not limited to g-tube feedings, suctioning, oxygen administration, nebulizer treatments, and positioning. They will help with administrative tasks such as DPH & DESE compliance regulations, as well as adhere to policy, procedure, and protocol changes. The Assistant Nurse Leader will work closely with students and all involved in their care, so must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents/guardians, and outside agencies. This role is versatile and requires a high degree of flexibility and responsiveness in the day-to-day. It is ideal for someone looking to maintain direct care work while also learning more of the back-end administrative and compliance details in a school setting.
