About The Position

WTAE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is searching for a passionate, creative, and experienced news leader to fill an Assistant News Director role. You will have excellent news judgment, leadership skills and a bold approach to breaking news coverage--on the air and online. You will help lead our news team in the execution of market defining breaking news, weather coverage, and community service on all platforms daily. As Assistant New Director, you will lead the news team in facilitating impactful community-based stories. With a unique format and the resources of Hearst Television, this is a rare opportunity to join one of the best. You will report to the News Director.

Requirements

• Previous newsroom supervisory and/or management experience
• Individual must have experience with news and managing a large staff of journalists
• Adaptability in ever-evolving news environment
• Related military experience will be considered

Responsibilities

• Work with the News Director to oversee the daily operation and editorial content of the newsroom and across all platforms
• Work with multiple departments to plan and execute special event coverage
• Exemplify strong journalistic standards and serve as a key decision maker to ensure all coverage rises to the standards of the newsroom
• Provide regular feedback to journalists in the newsroom
• Be a champion of the brand on all platforms
• Handle administrative duties such as scheduling newsroom employees
