About The Position

The Assistant Municipal Prosecutor is a part-time entry-level attorney position responsible for handling misdemeanor prosecutions under the municipal code. This role involves various legal tasks such as case screening, arraignment, evidence assessment, and courtroom appearances, providing ample opportunities for trial experience in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of law.
• Must be admitted to the State of Alaska Bar Association within 6 months to 1 year of hire.
• Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) / National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Possess a valid State of Alaska driver's license at the time of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in criminal law (not required but preferred).

Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of misdemeanor prosecution under the municipal code.
• Conduct case screening and arraignments.
• Assess evidence and engage with police, witnesses, and victims.
• Research legal issues and prepare motions.
• Participate in status hearings and trials.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
