About The Position

Pratt Paper (LA), LLC has a need for an Assistant Mill Chemical Engineer at its Shreveport, Louisiana location. The Assistant Mill Chemical Engineer works alongside the Mill Chemical Engineer and production team in order to maximize safety, quality and production. The Assistant Mill Chemical Engineer will help oversee the management of all chemical systems.

Requirements

four (4) year Bachelor of Science in Pulp and Paper Science, Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
five years of Paper Mill Chemical experience or Chemical Technical Service.
speak and write English at a college level.
solve college level mathematical equations.
use college level algebra, geometry and calculus to solve problems in the mill.
use knowledge of papermaking and papermaking chemistry to solve process, equipment and quality problems.

Nice To Haves

Paper Mill experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Planning, designing, and ordering the proper chemical and starch delivery systems
Ensuring the proper installation of the above chemical and starch delivery systems
Commissioning the above systems
Participating in all chemical supplier negotiations, including the final determination of programs and suppliers
Maintaining safety standards in the chemical areas
Maintaining chemical inventories
Maintaining chemical delivery systems
Determining, reporting and optimizing chemical costs
Evaluating trials
Training operators on chemical and general technical concepts
Monitoring, maintaining and reporting Air and Water Permitting
