About The Position

The Assistant Medical Director for Student Health Services at Cal Maritime is a full-time position responsible for overseeing the operations of the health center, ensuring compliance with medical protocols, and providing leadership in medical and administrative policies. Requirements

  • Graduation from a medical school recognized by the Medical Board of California.
  • Completion of one or more residency programs in a relevant specialty.
  • Board Certification or Board eligible in Family Medicine or appropriate primary care specialty.
  • 3 years of progressively increasing management/supervisory duties.
  • Valid State of California license to practice medicine.
  • Current board medical certification in primary care specialty.
  • Current CPR/AED certification.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain TWIC Card and MMC.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior or current affiliation with an outpatient clinic, hospital, or health center in higher education.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Coast Guard/Maritime requirements.
  • Knowledge of collective bargaining and administering corrective action.
  • Familiarity with ACHA and AAAHC policies.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise operations and staff within the health center.
  • Formulate medical and administrative policies and monitor adherence to medical protocols.
  • Develop an annual work plan in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Manage budget-related matters and ensure fiscal soundness of the health center.
  • Direct the development of professional relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMIA, and FERPA regulations.
  • Conduct medical trainings and facilitate journal clubs.
  • Provide direct patient care including examinations, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
  • Evaluate patient clinical records and provide consultations on complex cases.
  • Participate in campus events and serve on committees as needed.
