About The Position

SCOPE: Performs functions to repair, rebuild, and maintain equipment, such as functional horsepower gasoline engines used to power lawn mowers, Tractors, weed-eaters, and similar machines; Assist the Heavy Equipment Mechanic and Small Engine Mechanic on repairs and routine preventative maintenance schedules; and contribute to the mission of Gulfstream Goodwill by maximizing the opportunities for participants with disabilities and barriers to become more dependent

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Regular exposure to extreme temperature,
  • Regular pushing, pulling, stretching, reaching, kneeling, stooping, and bending.
  • Ability to lift and carry more than 30 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Using hand and power tools, locating causes of trouble on equipment, assists with the dismantling of engines and examines parts for defects.
  • Performs oil changes, tire work, and small electrical work on all equipment.
  • Assists with cleaning and adjusting equipment. Starts repaired engines and listens for good performance.
  • Provides training on daily maintenance and safety of all equipment.
  • Ensures actions and words communicate superior internal and external customer service.
  • Perform or assist with any assignment as required or directed.
  • Maintains and organizes to maintain a safe workshop and work vehicle and at all times.
  • Demonstrates by words and actions a commitment to the Gulfstream Goodwill mission to help people with disabilities and other barriers to become self-sufficient, working members of the community.
  • Perform or assist with any duties or operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Maintain safe work area and comply with all safety procedures and equipment operating rules, keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition. Must wear all job required PPE and follow all safeguards on equipment such as seat belts and maintain safe operating speeds.
  • Participate in any variety of meetings, training, and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
