About The Position

Assistant Mechanic at a Growth-Oriented Energy Company Union-represented (USW) Ability to progress through the different higher permanent classifications with the Maintenance Department, up to including, B Mechanic and A Mechanic Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor Key activities include: Repair of instruments and analyzers throughout the refinery Repair or assist other multi-craft mechanics in the routine maintenance of other refinery equipment Note: This description is intended to give you a general overview of the position, additional responsibilities and opportunities may be identified based on current business needs.

Requirements

  • To meet the basic qualifications for employment, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To comply with the regulations at this work location, successful applicants must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).   • At least three (3) years’ experience and journeyman skill level in instrument troubleshooting and repair, including both pneumatic and electronic instruments in an industrial maintenance environment. In-depth experience with distributed control systems required
  • Experience and ability to demonstrate journeyman skill level in a second craft within six months of hiring
  • Ability and willingness to develop usable skill level in a third craft area prior to final qualification as “A” Mechanic
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, circuit diagrams, and loop diagrams
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Tech school diploma highly desirable
  • Experience with various handheld communicators and calibrators
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems and individual components
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to take on challenges and work through to completion

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in repair, calibration and troubleshooting of gas analyzers a plus
  • Tech school diploma highly desirable
