Position Summary The Assistant Meat Manager supports the Meat Manager in overseeing daily meat department operations, ensuring high standards of product quality, food safety, merchandising, and customer service. This role helps lead department associates while maintaining efficient production, inventory control, and sales performance. Key Responsibilities Operations & Production Assist in planning and executing daily meat cutting, grinding, wrapping, and case‑ready production Ensure proper rotation, labeling, and presentation of all meat and seafood products Monitor inventory levels, ordering, receiving, shrink, and product freshness Support merchandising standards including case layout, signage, and promotions Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and company operating procedures Customer Service Deliver excellent customer service and assist customers with meat selections, special orders, and questions Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly Maintain clean, well‑stocked, and visually appealing service and self-service cases Team Leadership & Training Support hiring, onboarding, training, and development of meat department associates Assist with associate scheduling and daily task assignments Lead by example to reinforce productivity, safety, and teamwork Perform full department leadership duties in the Meat Manager’s absence Sales & Performance Assist with sales planning, labor efficiency, and shrink control Monitor production levels to minimize waste while meeting customer demand Support departmental initiatives to increase sales and profitability Safety & Compliance Enforce food safety standards, OSHA practices, and equipment safety procedures Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of meat products Promote a clean, organized, and safe work environment
