Description DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Customer Service Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast and friendly service. Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation ideas. Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in-store intercom, and one-on-one interactions. Department Operations Plan daily operations and monitor production processes following company procedures and profitability goals. Trim, cut, wrap, tray, and display meat; build meat and seafood displays; rotate and discard outdated or spoiled products. Ensure cleanliness of work area and department. Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays. Operate and maintain meat cooler, freezer, and butcher block as needed. Follow and maintain department standards and requirements for handling quick-sale items. Ensure trim specifications and cutting standards are followed. Maintain proper temperatures during all phases of meat preparation, display, and storage. Understand and follow opening and closing procedures. Team Leadership Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees. Train employees on store policies, sales, and record-keeping procedures. Communicate department goals and standards effectively. Inventory & Merchandising Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness; maintain levels per division directives. Stock and rotate product; maintain and organize meat cooler. Ensure proper code dating for all products. Implement correct product preparation techniques. Build displays and ensure proper signage, including accurate pricing and Country of Origin Labeling (COOL). Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, and code dating requirements. Equipment & Safety Use and operate related equipment such as pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, grinder, saw, saw blades, safety cutters, and cuber. Comply with all workplace safety rules and regulations. Reporting & Compliance Prepare sales and inventory reports; assist with physical inventory every 4 weeks. Accurately complete and maintain daily log sheets, production charts, meat grinding logs, sales and labor reports, and other required paperwork. Perform receiving duties: break down loads, verify orders using invoices, inspect quality, report shortages, stock and rotate product. Adhere to product temperature and storage guidelines; follow proper packaging techniques. Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records. Control shrink and cost. Policy Knowledge Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
