Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast and friendly service.
  • Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation recommendations.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in‑store intercom, and direct customer interaction.
  • Trim, cut, wrap, tray, and display meat products.
  • Build meat and seafood displays; rotate product and remove outdated or spoiled items.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, department equipment, and displays.
  • Maintain proper product temperatures during preparation, display, and storage.
  • Implement correct product preparation techniques and operate department equipment (e.g., pallet jack, hand truck, knives, grinder, saw, cuber, safety cutters).
  • Ensure proper signing of products, accurate pricing, and compliance with Country of Origin Labeling (COOL).
  • Follow all retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, and code‑dating requirements.
  • Maintain department standards for handling quick‑sale items.
  • Understand and follow opening and closing procedures.
  • Assist in planning daily operations and monitor production processes in accordance with company procedures and profitability goals.
  • Assist with controlling inventory to maintain adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness.
  • Stock and rotate product; maintain and organize the meat cooler and freezer.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Prepare or assist with sales and inventory reports; participate in physical inventory every 4 weeks.
  • Accurately complete and monitor daily log sheets, Production Charts, Meat Grinding Logs, Sales and Labor reports, and other required forms.
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, checking invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product.
  • Adhere to temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines.
  • Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.
  • Control shrink and costs.
  • Possess specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees.
  • Assist in scheduling, supervising, training, and assigning duties to staff.
  • Train employees on store policies, sales procedures, and record‑keeping processes.
  • Ensure trim specifications and cutting standards are consistently followed.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Ensure all products meet proper code‑dating requirements.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and comply with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
