Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast, friendly service.
  • Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation ideas.
  • Engage in suggestive selling through phone interactions, intercom announcements, and face‑to‑face service.
  • Assist with planning daily operations and monitoring production processes following company procedures and profitability guidelines.
  • Trim, cut, wrap, tray, and display meat products.
  • Build meat and seafood displays; rotate and discard outdated or spoiled product.
  • Ensure department and work areas are clean and well organized.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Support operation and maintenance of meat coolers, freezers, and butcher block.
  • Follow and maintain department standards for handling quick‑sale items.
  • Ensure trim specifications and cutting standards are properly followed.
  • Ensure all temperature requirements are met during preparation, display, and storage.
  • Ensure proper code dating and enforce company, federal, and state regulations, including retail labeling laws and COOL (Country of Origin Labeling).
  • Comply with all workplace safety rules and sanitation requirements.
  • Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees.
  • Maintain knowledge of all department roles and responsibilities.
  • Understand and ensure correct execution of opening and closing procedures.
  • Train employees on store policies, sales procedures, and record‑keeping.
  • Communicate sales goals, department performance, and opportunities to employees.
  • Assist with controlling inventory levels to ensure sufficient quantity, quality, and freshness.
  • Stock, rotate, and organize product in the meat cooler and on the sales floor.
  • Control shrink and departmental costs.
  • Assist with preparing sales and inventory reports; support physical inventory every four weeks.
  • Ensure proper product preparation techniques are followed.
  • Operate equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, knives, scissors, grinders, saws, saw blades, safety cutters, and cubers.
  • Accurately complete, maintain, and monitor required logs and paperwork, including:
  • Daily log sheets
  • Production charts
  • Meat grinding logs
  • Sales and labor records
  • Other required documentation
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product.
  • Follow temperature and storage guidelines and proper packaging techniques.
  • Maintain accurate department records.
  • Ensure proper temperature maintenance for all products.
  • Ensure accurate pricing and signage on all items.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of sales floor, work areas, equipment, freezers, coolers, cutting rooms, and display areas.
  • Implement emergency procedures when equipment or software malfunctions occur.
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings as required.
  • Ensure compliance with company grooming standards and dress code.
  • Perform all job duties safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity.
