The Assistant Materials Manager/Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the purchasing and distribution of materials, equipment, and supplies within the organization. This role involves directing and coordinating activities in the absence of the Purchasing Manager, ensuring efficient procurement processes, and maintaining compliance with corporate contracts and policies.

  • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the implementation of corporate contracts.
  • Enters information into Navision and validates it.
  • Organizes, supervises, and directs the work of storeroom and central supply personnel engaged in receiving, issuing, and delivering supplies.
  • Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices based on inventory needs after an inventory is taken.
  • Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company standards.
  • Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
  • Oversees all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity.
  • Interfaces with corporate purchasing on supplier problems and provides feedback on supplier performance.
  • Updates corporate purchasing on new products used and specification changes.
  • Works with the Controller to ensure compliance with Finance Policy 2100.
  • Collaborates with suppliers on invoice and payment issues.
  • Proven experience in purchasing department.
  • Experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Familiarity with supply chain and inventory management systems.
  • Understanding of forecasting and budgeting.
  • Working knowledge of Navision.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
