About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager is primarily responsible for assisting the store manager with day-to-day store operations. This includes assisting with sales, store appearance, customer service, inventory, and management of employees within established guidelines. The Assistant Store Manager leads and directs store employees and supervises their performance, especially in the absence of the store manager. They take initiative to improve customer service, drive store sales, and meet or exceed store goals and profitability. Maintaining store appearance and product presentation to company standards is essential, as well as emphasizing team efforts. The Assistant Store Manager helps model and set the tone for interaction with customers and employees, understanding how this influences the public perception of ROC.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent, preferred.
  • Knowledge of retail management and people management, a plus.
  • Some knowledge of store operations, required – merchandising, inventory control, cash control.
  • One year experience in retail management, C-store clerk, or store operations position.
  • Experience and knowledge in management, financial reporting, customer service, inventory management, and other related operational areas.
  • Demonstrated effective track record as store clerk.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good people and customer interaction skills.
  • Skills in leadership, teaching, and motivating employees.
  • Demonstrated attentiveness to details; mathematical analytical ability.
  • Good computer skills, e.g. point of sale system.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems – operational, customer, and employee.
  • Ability to work independently in a high pressure and demanding environment.
  • Ability to multi-task.
