About The Position

The Assistant Manager plays a key role in the daily operations of our small manufacturing plant. This position supports overall plant management while serving as the primary planner responsible for day‑to‑day production planning, scheduling, and coordination. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, organized, and comfortable balancing planning responsibilities with operational leadership.

Requirements

  • BS in related field preferred, but not required
  • Experience in Manufacturing Leadership and/or Supply Chain
  • Experience in Food Manufacturing; working knowledge of operational safety and food manufacturing expectations (FDA, SQF, HACCP)
  • Strong Attention to details as well as strong interpersonal, analytical, planning, and oral/written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt written and oral communication for audiences
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision making, prioritization, and direction setting
  • Very detail oriented & strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with ERP systems and tools, Infor Syteline Experience a plus
  • Ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities to meet required deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules based on demand, capacity, and material availability
  • Determine raw material needs based on demand and manage the deliveries.
  • Coordinate with production, maintenance, and inventory teams to ensure schedules are achievable and adjusted as needed
  • Monitor work-in-progress and address bottlenecks or disruptions to keep production on track
  • Maintain accurate planning data, reports, and schedules in the ERP system
  • Communicate schedule changes and priorities clearly to plant personnel
  • Ensures production inputs and outputs are accurately tracked utilizing our ERP system
  • Plant inventory management; inventory levels, accuracy, and aged inventory
  • Support the Plant Manager with day‑to‑day plant operations and decision-making
  • Provide floor-level leadership and direction to employees as needed
  • Assist with staffing coordination, coverage, and workflow balancing
  • Help enforce safety policies, quality standards, and plant procedures
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to efficiency, scheduling, and workflow
  • Reinforcing safety policies and plant procedures and supporting quality standards and compliance
  • Identifying inefficiencies and proposing solutions
  • Serve as acting manager in the Plant Manager’s absence when required
  • Other duties as required
