We are looking for the next great addition to our Resident Dining team! Residential Dining Assistant Manager Position Description Reports to the Dining Manager of the residential dining unit. Is responsible for assisting the manager in the unit's effective operation. Works as a team member within the unit and with coworkers in other dining units. Responsible for meeting established financial goals of the unit. This is a 10-month appointment, with work scheduled during the academic year and breaks aligned with the institutional calendar. Position Expectations Shows enthusiasm, creativity, and is excited about preparing, serving, and presenting excellent food. Shows a genuine concern for customer satisfaction. Assists in hiring and training student employees, who mirror the positive, customer-oriented behavior created by their assistant dining manager. Demonstrates a caring concern for customers and coworkers. Compensation and Benefits This position offers a competitive salary as part of a total compensation package valued at approximately $120,000.   • Must be visible and available to answer customers' comments and concerns, and consult with other Dining Services staff, when necessary.
  • Coordinates with Registered Dietitian any special meal requests for students with special dietary needs such as food allergies.
  • Involved with Registered Dietitian in meeting and following up with students with special dietary needs.
  • Responsible for menu signage and correct labeling of food allergens provided by the Registered Dietitian.
  • Assists Dining Manager in personnel orientation, training, coaching, scheduling, and payroll distribution for hourly and student employees.
  • Accepts specific responsibilities as delegated by the Dining Manager in such areas as meal service, food requisitions, building maintenance, and student employment.
  • As directed by the Dining Manager, accepts responsibility for monitoring food requisition, production, and usage using the standardized recipe file, inventory, and production records so that menu integrity, quality, and cost controls, and optimum meal service are maintained.
  • Assist in placing maintenance work orders (Auxiliary Services and State), following up to their successful completion and the custodial and housekeeping standards of the unit.
  • Assists the Dining Manager in the implementation of safety and sanitation standards in compliance with New York State Health Code, ServSafe, and OSHA.
  • Assists in supporting and implementing policies and procedures of Dining Services - Auxiliary Services.
  • Assists in maintaining the security of food inventory, cash controls, and unit access.
  • Assists with recording monthly food inventories to assist in determining buildings per plate food cost.
  • Acts as liaison to Residential Life and Housing staff, dining customers, and other campus departments/offices.
  • Accepts responsibility for the residential dining unit in the absence of the Dining Manager.
  • Accepts responsibility for any individual area or project as delegated by the Dining Manager or Director if Residential Dining.
  • Associate's Degree plus college/summer work experience in the food or hospitality industry or Bachelor's Degree, plus college/summer work experience in the food or hospitality industry or Completed a minimum of 24 credit hours of college study.
  • Five years experience in the food or hospitality industry.
  • Positions held demonstrate progressive responsibility and successful achievement.
  • Equivalent military service and training in food service.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google docs with demonstrated experience in Excel.
