The Assistant Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the store, encompassing a wide range of duties from equipment operation and product preparation to inventory management and customer service. This role involves stocking ingredients, preparing food products, and handling telephone and in-person orders. A key aspect of the position is product delivery, requiring the use of a personal insured vehicle to transport items to customer doors and distribute promotional materials. The Assistant Manager is also responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the facility and equipment. The role demands strong communication skills for interacting with customers and co-workers, as well as the ability to train and lead a team. Essential functions include accurate monetary transactions, order entry using computer systems, cost control, and navigational skills for delivery. The work environment involves exposure to varying weather conditions, significant temperature fluctuations within the store (from 36 degrees in coolers to over 90 degrees in work areas), food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped spaces, hot surfaces, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts. The position requires continuous physical activity, including standing for most tasks, walking, occasional sitting for paperwork, and frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and climbing. Team members must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, carry various items, drive for deliveries, push dollies, climb stairs and ladders, and perform stooping, bending, crouching, squatting, and reaching movements. Continuous eye-hand coordination and hand tasks are essential.
