About The Position

The San Manuel Assistant Manager (AM) position is responsible for the overall operations of the Falcon Valley Division. This position will select, train, and supervise all Division employees. Additionally, all production, treatment, new construction, repair, operations sampling, environmental compliance, and customer service will be the primary responsibilities for this position. The AM will be responsible for ensuring all invoices and reports are processed on time and with accuracy and this position will report directly to the Assistant General Manager and General Manager in the Falcon Valley Division.. JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs a variety of tasks, duties, and functions, which may include, but are not limited to, the following: Maintain a regular program of preventative maintenance and repair for water systems under his/her supervision. Oversee water sample collection and the delivery to testing laboratories, as appropriate. Alert the company’s Operations Department to potential and actual water system operation and maintenance concerns. Maintain and control appropriate level of inventory and supervise the receiving and storing of materials. Prepare construction budget proposals. Supervise division construction programs to ensure compliance with company specifications. Work directly with the Engineering Department to solicit competitive bids from licensed contractors for the installation of water distribution systems and other water system improvements.. Coordinate construction projects with the company’s Engineering department. Identify and recommend corrective action for design discrepancies. Coordinate design concepts and design plans with the Engineering Department. Provide guidance and support for all planning, sampling, and overall environmental compliance for the Division. Represent company at local level through participation in civic organizations; and through attendance at city and county planning and zoning meetings, city council meetings, Chamber of Commerce, and local economic development and other similar meetings, as needed. Inform corporate office of local issues related to attendance at such meetings and through contacts with local government officials and other business leaders. Perform other duties assigned by Director – Operations.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to supervise, motivate, and train employees, and to recognize job or employee problems and recommend solutions.
  • Familiarity with all safety practices and procedures and ensure training is complete or all for all Division employees.
  • Familiarity with all Safe Drinking Water Act and Clean Water Standards requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to write legibly and have proficient reading skills, as well as ability to quickly comprehend.
  • Must have strong personal computer skills, and working knowledge with a variety of computer software packages, such as; Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GIS related software, ReQlogic, DocLink.and Outlook.
  • Additionally, this position must have a good working knowledge of UMAX, Field Logic in Service Link, SENSUS Field Mobile and our AMI operating system.
  • Thorough understanding of water treatment, filtration, distribution, and pumping systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical controls, operational control strategies, SCADA systems, electrical components, and electronic instruments.
  • Thorough understanding of City, County, State and Federal permitting requirements for water systems.
  • Ability to manage projects and interact with all levels of company employees, as well as contractors, outside vendors, public agency representatives, and the general public.
  • Ability to accurately handle a high volume of varied tasks, to work well under time deadlines, and to assure the work is completed fully, accurately, and on schedule.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and have good attendance.
  • Neat and presentable professional appearance.
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical activities using feet, legs, hands, and arms, and be able to use keyboard, walk, sit, stand, bend, stoop, climb stairs, reach, grasp, and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years' experience as Utility Worker III or comparable experience.
  • Able to read construction drawings; have a thorough understanding of water distribution systems, water treatment, and water testing requirements; possess effective communication skills and be able to deal effectively with customers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and material suppliers.
  • Must be familiar with various construction methods and with the company's Standard Specifications; must be able to inspect construction projects to ensure compliance with company Standard Specifications and Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Engineering Bulletin No. 10.
  • Must have a valid, appropriate Arizona driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must possess or obtain an Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Operator Certificate for Water Distribution and Water Treatment at a grade level specified by the company.
