About The Position

Honey Veil is a matcha, coffee, and bakery café focused on quality products, thoughtful systems, and consistent service. We operate primarily daytime hours and value calm, organized execution and strong hospitality. We’re seeking an Assistant Manager (FOH & BOH) to serve as the right hand to the General Manager, supporting daily operations across both front and back of house. This is a hands-on leadership role combining floor presence with operational support. You’ll help plan the day, lead shifts, support supervisors, and ensure standards are upheld when the GM is on-site or away.

Requirements

  • 2–4+ years in a café, bakery, or quick-service environment
  • Prior leadership experience (shift lead, supervisor, assistant manager, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of both FOH service and BOH/bakery operations
  • Strong planning, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Calm, reliable leader with a hospitality-first mindset
  • Availability for early mornings, weekends, and peak days
  • knowledge in systems like MarginEdge and Toast POS

Responsibilities

  • Support Daily Operations (FOH + BOH)
  • Act as Manager on Duty in the GM’s absence, fully owning the success of the day
  • Lead shifts on the floor: open and/or close, assign stations, and ensure smooth service
  • Support both FOH service flow and BOH prep/production to keep the operation aligned
  • Plan the Day & Support the Week
  • Assist with daily planning: staffing flow, station assignments, prep priorities, and service pacing
  • Ensure breaks are planned, delegated, and compliant while maintaining coverage
  • Anticipate needs for upcoming shifts and communicate them clearly to supervisors and the GM
  • Team Leadership & Development
  • Support and coach shift supervisors and baristas during service
  • Help onboard and train new hires across FOH and BOH systems and standards
  • Reinforce expectations around quality, cleanliness, efficiency, and professionalism
  • Serve as a steady, calm leadership presence for the team
  • Service, Beverage & Bakery Standards
  • Ensure matcha, coffee, and specialty beverages are executed to Honey Veil standards
  • Support bakery and BOH teams with prep accuracy, portioning, and presentation
  • Identify quality gaps and address them through coaching and system improvements
  • Guest Experience
  • Own guest experience on shift: greeting guests, handling feedback, and resolving issues
  • Step in for service recovery when needed, turning problems into positive outcomes
  • Maintain a welcoming, organized, and calm café environment
  • Back of House Oversight
  • Support BOH workflows, prep schedules, and food safety standards
  • Monitor waste, pars, and production levels in partnership with the GM
  • Ensure BOH cleanliness, organization, and compliance
  • Inventory, Cash & Systems
  • Assist with inventory counts, ordering inputs, and vendor coordination
  • Support cash handling, drawer accuracy, and daily reporting
  • Ensure SOPs, checklists, and systems are followed consistently
  • Jump In Where Needed
  • Step into any role—bar, register, expo, prep, runner—to support the team and maintain flow
