About The Position

The Assistant Manager provides back-up support to the Manager of the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store which provides clothing, household goods and furniture to needy individuals and families of the District Council's 11 Conferences and, with proceeds from the sales of the remaining merchandise it receives through donations from the public, it defrays operating expenses and helps fund other programs of the District Council.

  • Successfully pass Law Enforcement background screening
  • Valid Florida driver’s license if driving an agency vehicle or a personal vehicle for company business

  • This position requires a high school diploma or GED certificate, or some vocational courses in retailing.
  • Also required are three to five-year years of experience in a retail environment.

Nice To Haves

  • A Florida Commercial Driver's License is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the Thrift Store operations in the absence of the Manager
  • Help train employees and volunteers, assigning responsibilities to the latter
  • Oversee the intake of donated merchandise and see that it is sorted, priced, and placed on the sales floor in a timely manner
  • Help price large-ticket items such as furniture and antiques
  • Assist customers and clients with vouchers, maintaining all pertinent data for reporting purposes
  • Schedule pick-ups and deliveries with customers, completing appropriate forms
  • Help enforce all store policies and keeping in mind the mission statement.
  • Supervise the overall neatness and appearance of the sales floor
  • Assist the cashier when needed
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings of the Chief Executive Officer if the Manager is unable to do so
  • Complies with all applicable training requirements
  • Complies with all company safety, personnel and operational policies and procedures
  • Complies with work schedule to ensure effective operations of Agency programs
  • Contributes positively as a member of a productive and cooperative team
  • Performs other duties as necessary to fulfill the St. Vincent de Paul CARES Mission
